Innisfil man to play with Tiger—sports’ first billion dollar man
TED BITS, Ted McIntyre - INNISFIL MAN TO PLAY WITH TIGER, SPORTS’ FIRST BILLION DOLLAR MAN
Over the weekend I was forwarded a story from the Barrie Advance. Turns out Innisfil resident Adam LeBoeuf will be teeing it up sometime soon with Tiger Woods. LeBoeuf has been selected in a contest sponsored by Tag Heuer Watches to play with the golfing god, who was just named the first athlete in history to bank a billion dollars in on- and -off-course earnings (capped by his $10 million bonus for winning this year’s FedEx Cup. Woods non-course income includes endorsement deals from Nike ($30 million), Accenture Management Consultants ($20 million), Gilette ($15 million), Gatorade ($1 million), Electronic Arts video games ($8 million) and TAG Heuer ($5 million)
LeBoeuf, a jewelry retailer in Barrie, was one of two retailer partners in Canada selected to play with Woods, while two customers were also selected through a random draw. The scary thing is LeBoeuf doesn’t even play golf (although the contest website says he and a guest will only be playing two holes with Woods). Still, Leboeuf is, not surprisingly, planning a crash course before his golf date rolls around.
And while he calls this a once in a lifetime opportunity, this is the second time something like this has happened to LeBoeuf, whose name was drawn back in 1996 to ski with Canadian downhill legend Steve Podborski.
