gallow.jpg GOLF THROUGH THE LENS, Chris Gallow – Thanks Ted.

Yesterday was beautiful!! The kids wanted to hit the beach and run around but not beach 2, which is in our backyard. So we jump in the van, of course I grab the camera. We take the 2 minute drive down to the main end where all the people and stores are. Let the kids out go pay for parking, come back to the van to put the little ticket thingy on the dash and… to my surprise when I open the passenger door my camera had shifted! As I open the door the nightmare of every photographers dreams is unfolding before my eyes. Like a slow motion scene from a action movie I see my camera tumbling off of the seat heading straight for the concrete. I make a diving catch inches before contact. My heart is in my stomach but I made the catch. Then bang!! My knee! The pain shoots up my leg. Turns out in my galaint efforts of saving my camera I managed to smash my knee into the concrete. (If you don’t know I have been battling chronic knee problems for 15+ years) Of course its my bad knee. So I collect myself and stand up in brutal pain. Lauren, my daughter, looks at me and says “Daddy you would rather hurt yourself and save your camera, then let you camera fall!” I laughed between stabbing jolts of pain radiating from my knee and shake my head. I explained to her that my camera is not more important than my body but in this case I just reacted just like if her or her brother was in trouble.

Now the reason for the title of this blog is because earlier in the day Ted called me with news of his knee injury due to a baseball crashing into his knee. Seems like a bit of a jinx to me, what are the odds that I would injure the same knee as him almost in the same spot!!

gallow.jpg GOLF THROUGH THE LENS, Chris Gallow – Annika Alena and Morgan.

May 20,2008 Magna Golf Club.

Assignment shoot cover image of Annika and Canada’s top nationally ranked junior female, Jacqueline Yanch.

On a regular basis I have to really think on my feet and work fast. Between setup and shoot I only had minutes, like 10min tops. In these 600 seconds I had produce cover worthy image before the second tee off on the tenth tee at 3:15pm. All I can say is Annika is fabulous she was willing to give me as much time as possible. Over the years I have delt with Annika on a bunch of occations and she has been one of my favorite tour players to work with.

The format of the day was nine-holes in the AM followed by a clinic with the three amigos. The second half of the day nine-hole match where Sorenstam and a junior girl golfer teamed up for each hole to play against Pressel and Sharp.

In the end $200,000.00 was raised for various charities. What a great day.

Posted are images from the clinic. The cover image has to wait until its published.
